When will Bitcoin reach $100,000?

The trend passed $100K in August 2025

The Power Law trend crossed $100,000 on August 29, 2025. Today the trend sits at $139,838 while the market trades at $79,811, so the question now is not whether the trend gets there but how far the price swings around it.

What the trend says

The estimate is not a forecast of a single day. It is the point where a curve fitted to 16 years of daily prices crosses $100K. The fit is refitted every night on the full history, so this date moves a little as new data arrives; the current fit explains about 96% of the variation in price since 2010.

Why the growth slows down

Bitcoin does not grow at a constant rate. Its annual growth has been shrinking every year since 2010, and a steadily declining but still positive growth rate is exactly what a power law describes. That is why $100K was reached later than a naive extrapolation of the last bull run would suggest, and why targets ten times higher take much more than ten times longer.

At $100,000 Bitcoin's market value would be about $2 trillion, roughly the size of the largest single companies on Earth. Numbers of that size are easier to judge in years than in multiples, which is what the Power Law offers.

The two bands: worst case and best case

The lower band, which marks where bear-market bottoms have historically landed, reaches $100K in August 2028. After that date even a deep bear market would, on the model, keep the price above $100K.

The upper band, three times the trend, touched $100K in September 2022. That is the earliest a bull-market blow-off could plausibly print $100K, and it is also why the honest answer is a range of years rather than a date.

What could break this

The model is a description of the past, fitted to data, and it can fail. Since 2010 the price has closed more than 60% below the trend on about 2% of days, all of them in 2010 and 2015, so the bands are a historical range, not a guarantee. A regulatory shock, a flaw in the protocol, or simply a change in adoption would bend the curve. Use the date above as a map of where the centre of gravity has been heading, not as a promise.

Frequently asked questions

Will Bitcoin reach $100,000?
Nobody knows. The Power Law model, which has tracked Bitcoin's price within its bands for 16 years, puts the trend at $100,000 in August 2025. Treat it as a probability map, not a prediction.
What would Bitcoin's market cap be at $100,000?
With roughly 19.9 million coins in circulation, $100,000 per coin is about $2 trillion, roughly the size of the largest single companies on Earth.
What is the earliest it could happen?
On the model, the upper band (3× the trend) touched $100K in September 2022. Bull-market peaks have historically stopped near that band.
How accurate is the Power Law model?
The current fit explains about 96% of the variation in Bitcoin's price since 2010, and it is refitted daily. It says nothing about next month; its value is in the long view.
